After reading the comments, it looks like many of you would like to experience the “French” way of shopping. Do keep in mind that there are supermarkets in France, not just the small markets and specialty shops. Some of the pros mentioned for the small markets were 1) familiarity/relationship with the shop owner 2) fresh food 3) local food and 4) exercise. Those of you who preferred the supermarket seemed to like the convenience of finding everything in one place. You must have a very busy lifestyle, like most Americans:) !

Based on what we have learned in class about French shopping habits and customs, make comparisons between the French and the Americans. What are the pros and cons? Which customs would you prefer and why?
